A look behind the scenes: A day with our removal professionals

Our Maier removal company has been on the road for more than 41 years: for domestic and international removals, furniture storage and commercial removals. A lot has changed since then, of course, but our daily routine has remained the same to some extent - but today it is even more efficient and customised than ever before. We have outlined a typical day in the life of our removal professionals for you: For a little insight behind the scenes.

Four removal men in coordinating uniforms pose confidently in front of their removal van, ready to tackle the day's work.

We start early with a team meeting, allocate tasks, check and bundle the equipment (boxes, blankets, tools, packing materials, safety belts) and coordinate customer enquiries in the office at the same time.

It all starts early in the morning

Most of our removal professionals can't do without coffee - after all, moving furniture takes a lot of energy. That's why we start early in the day, usually with a team meeting that creates clarity and transparency for the rest of the day. We also allocate the respective responsibilities, for example who carries what and where, who drives where and what still needs to be done in terms of packaging or storage. Further work at the customer's premises, above all assembly and disassembly, is also discussed at this stage.

We then check our equipment and put it together for the day's tasks: Boxes, blankets, toolboxes, sufficient packing materials and safety belts are of course essential. Then we're practically ready to go. Meanwhile, the colleagues who are present at the company headquarters or in the office on this day take care of further enquiries and are available to answer our future customers' questions. This is why we are always reliably available on weekdays during our business hours.

Our teams drive to the agreed address with a lorry and satnav, after stopping restrictions and free spaces have been organised

We drive to the first customer

Now we get to work in the truest sense of the word: equipped with a lorry and sat nav, we head to the agreed customer address. We have already organised the necessary clearances and stopping restrictions on site at this point. If there is enough space anyway, we will organise everything directly on site. Our removal professionals organise themselves during the journey and allocate specific responsibilities once again; the entire job is coordinated down to the last detail. This has the advantage for our customers that every move is organised on site - which speeds up the move and ensures that you can look forward to your new home or office without any worries.

On site, we greet our customers in the usual human way and at eye level. After a brief greeting and introduction, we take a look at the situation on site. Sometimes there is still some work to be done here and there or our removal professionals are given precise instructions, for example regarding very valuable items in the household. In general, it is also necessary to clarify directly on site which pieces of furniture, decorative elements and household items are particularly sensitive. We also look at which pieces of furniture can be transported in their entirety and which can be dismantled. If ramps and lifts are required, our colleagues set them up during the process.

Two Maier Removals employees take part in the move, with one person standing on a higher level and handing a cardboard box to a smiling man below, ready to transport it. The box is labelled with the logo of a removal company Maier Möbelspedition.

When customers book our all-round service including dismantling and packing, we carefully pack furniture and crockery.

Everything is done on site: This creates efficiency and safety

If our customers book an all-round service including dismantling and packing, our removal professionals get straight to work. We pack in bubble wrap, wrap in blankets and wrap in paper, stow in cardboard boxes and start dismantling the furniture - for example tables, cupboards, beds and the like.

Technical equipment is inspected and then secured so that the computer, TV, stereo system and all other items are moved safely from A to B. During this phase, our customers can follow live how coordinated and efficient our removal professionals are in their work.

In the classic feat of strength, our removal professionals work systematically: heavy items go down, light ones go up

Now the lorry is loaded

Now it's time for the classic feat of strength that no move is complete without. Of course, our removal professionals don't do it without a system. Thanks to their years of experience, they know exactly how to get even the bulky and heavy items safely from the flat and house down into the lorry. It's all systematic: heavy things are placed at the bottom, light things on top. Everything is secured with a strap. We place delicate items separately and secure them additionally.

Sack trucks, ramps, lifts, carrying straps etc.: we adapt our aids depending on what is being transported. Our experienced team can once again play to its strengths at the customer's premises. It usually works like this: one colleague takes care of the things that can be carried alone, while two other colleagues carry the heavy pieces of furniture. Another colleague sometimes takes care of the arrangement at the bottom of the lorry. This means that no time is lost.

Of course, there are always challenges. Flats on the top floor tend to be a bigger hurdle than those on the ground floor, for obvious reasons. In addition, there is always a lot going on in a big city, so there are also issues such as traffic and other residents to consider. Narrow stairwells or those that are particularly curved don't make our work any easier either. But the good news is that our removal professionals have a solution for everything. What's more, we have already inspected the situation on site, so we arrive at your premises ideally prepared.

The Maier team relies on clear instructions, understandable commands and a great deal of routine when communicating with each other, i.e. from moving professional to moving professional. Our experience, both with domestic and international removals, definitely benefits us here.

After loading, we drive to the new home, the drivers coordinate routes and breaks en route, and on site we check the location and placement of the furniture together with the customer

Now the afternoon has already dawned

Once everything has been cleared out and loaded, all the furniture is transported to the new home. Beforehand, of course, we make sure that all the furniture and boxes are properly secured. There may well be other obstacles during the journey: Especially on longer journeys, our drivers continuously coordinate with each other as well as with the head office - to avoid traffic jams, accidents or roadworks, for example. Of course, our removal professionals also use the journey to take a breather: so that their muscles are working properly again when they reach their destination.

On site, the situation is inspected once again. A brief tour and further consultation with our customers ensure that everything is in the right place and at the right location later on. Experience has shown that our customers are already really looking forward to the work: No wonder, because the first moving box will soon be in its new home.

Unload, lift and assemble lorries

Just like loading, only this time the other way round. Once again, our removal professionals get to grips with unloading the lorry step by step. Of course, we always pay attention to sensitive floors, walls, door frames, etc. If the stairwell is narrow, a lift could be used to manoeuvre bulky items directly through the window. Sometimes it has to be a diversion via the balcony using special technology.

The previously dismantled furniture is now professionally reassembled for customers who also require on-site assembly. Every single screw is tightened, as is every nut. Boxes are cleared out and, if kitchen assembly is required, this is also taken care of. In our experience, our customers love this: It's obvious, because if everything is done by the Maier removal professionals, the flat really is ready to move into straight away.

The new home is gradually taking shape. Once everything is finished, another tour is scheduled. We consult with our customers on an ongoing basis. Meanwhile, the packing and transport materials are already being put together by our colleagues.

Our customers are often surprised at how quickly everything went in the end. This is the expertise that the Maier Umzüge team automatically brings to the table. We say goodbye with a smile and perhaps a quick coffee. Now it's time for our team to return to the company site and the warehouse, provided the move took place in our neighbourhood. We have a quick chat, relax and plan for the next day - because the next move is not far away.
